Today’s devotion in Jesus Calling was a good one on anxiety. Sarah Young’s first sentence was an attention grabber:
“Anxiety is a result of envisioning a future without Me..” (Me being God.)
When I think about my own anxious thoughts I would have to say she’s right. I play the ‘starring role’ in most of my dark visions, usually trying to fix some awful problem of mine or somebody else’s.
And God?
Well, I guess if God was present in my anxious machinations I wouldn’t be the headliner; He would be ..and Gee whiz- maybe these thoughts of mine wouldn’t all be worst case scenarios.
It’s just a good reminder when our minds starts wandering off into shadowy corners and we start imagining the worst..
Who’s playing the lead role in our anxious thoughts; is it God or somebody else?
