Is your first instinct to lie or to be truthful?
Fight or flee?
Argue or defer?
Give or grab?
Trust or distrust?
Believe or doubt?
Yell or withdraw?
Lead or follow?
One could say that life is truly a process of learning to build on our best instincts, turn from our worst and manage the ones that could serve or hurt us depending on the situation.
Intuition is an irreplaceable tool to help us in this effort and yet instinct (an innate, typically fixed pattern of behavior in response to certain stimuli) is often confused with intuition (the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.)
Instinct reacts, intuition interprets.
What are your best and worst instincts?
Have you given any thought to the role they play in your life?
Do you validate, accommodate and benefit from your intuition?
I’m pragmatic, which means I’m always figuring out if something is logical. If it doesn’t appear logical I’m weary. I don’t know exactly what that says about me, but I’m good with being pragmatic

So would you say your instinct is to be leery or hesitant until you’ve have time to investigate? I sure know people who are instinctively trusting and JUMP right in to situations without a thought or care. I am NOT like that at all..

I always take a minute to assess a situation. I think it’s also situational. I’m more aware if I’m alone, or if it’s dark, or too quiet. My first thought is the environment. And I’m not sympathetic as a rule,

I think we change over time..as we experience more events in life. I’d say my instincts have all become more protective..more self-preservative.. but a few are still what they always were..like I am by nature, instinctively honest. Doesn’t mean I won’t lie and tell you I love your new car even if I don’t..but in “real” matters, it’s just in me to be truthful..I can’t even help it.

Nothing wrong with that

I agree- but it is an adjustment, can’t lie. I have friends who struggle terribly with it.

I do pay attention to my instinct because I believe it is directed by the Holy Spirit.

100% agree.. but I admit I get so busy and fall short..esp this time of year. I like this image because it reminds me to “make room in my inn” every day- not just to accommodate Jesus but to give him the VIP attention He deserves.
