So I was casually scrolling around online the other day, marveling (as I always do) at photos of amazing food..
sky high cakes,
Picasso-level cheese platters,
Nutella mousse…(!!)
bodacious burgers dripping with melted cheese,
colorful cocktails with spirals of fruit peels pirouetting inside..
and I thought to myself:
“Self? You know what stinks is the idea I can NEVER make any of that stuff anymore. After all, the kids are out of the house, my husband has high cholesterol, I’m on the 3 year colonoscopy plan.. we can’t eat any of that deliciousness or we will surely croak, right?”
I mean, when’s the last time YOU used your cake pan?
I know!!
I miss mine too!
As I chopped away at a mound of cabbage I imagined I was instead chopping up a bar of milk chocolate to add to my famous chocolate chip cookies, you know..the ones I never make anymore.
And then I realized something.
What would it hurt to have a “go wild” dinner once a month featuring some of the great food I see on the internet? Better yet..if we invited people over, there wouldn’t be any left-overs!
It’s the left-overs that cause the problems..
think Christmas..
we were nibbling at Costco sized cheese bricks for weeks afterwards and my husband is still putting splashes of left-over whipping cream in his tea. (that stuff lasts forever..ew!)
HappyHauteHome featured an absolutely scrumptious looking cake dripping with ganache for a Galentine’s Day party last week. I look at that beauty and fantasize, but it’s not a dream about eating that cake..it’s a dream about creating it! There’s just something so satisfying about exploring the finer side- the artsy side- of food.. exhibit A- the cake my daughter made for our holiday dinner last year- I mean WOW!
Mark my words..I’m going to be baking a cake real soon- I absolutely need to.
In the meantime, enjoy these photos of my healthy, air fried, vegetarian egg rolls. 😂 🙄
I know.. it’s not the same.
😕
When in doubt, just say yes!
