#1 Set your standards high. Don’t put yourself in vulnerable situations where you’ll be tempted to trade your integrity for short-term reward or relief. Nothing is more valuable than your character, your honor and your good name.
#2 Request help right away when you need it. It’s not a sign of weakness..as a matter of fact, most people love it when they are asked for advice, assistance, an opinion or a shoulder to cry on. Life is a team sport- don’t deny others the opportunity to be essential participants in it.
#3 Live openly, graciously, generously and bravely. Imagine yourself starting each new day throwing open the windows to your mind, your heart and your soul. Listen to others with patience, tolerance and respect. Embrace the adventure and challenges of your life. Say “yes” more than you say “no.” Recognize opportunities to share the best of yourself with others.
#4 Manage time. Don’t save things for the last minute. Practice punctuality. Be that person others can always count on. Live up to your commitments-fully. Set aside personal moments every week for rest, reflection & rejuvenation.
#5 Be grateful..every day. Gratitude is the antidote to self pity, self-loathing and self destruction..it is the springboard to success. You can always find something to thank the good Lord for.
And oh yeah…
have fun!
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
