What did I learn this week?

ABOUT FOOD-  I learned that just because pasta is green and comes in a green box, doesn’t mean it’s the healthiest option.  Case in point:

That box of SuperGreens sure looks super healthy, and while it does surpass its plain counter-part in the nutrition department, nothing beats the bag of pasta made with just one ingredient:

Whole wheat!

This is a whole grain:

Whole grains are milled to produce the softer breads and pastas Americans especially have grown to love. Unfortunately, this refinement process strips the whole wheat grain of the healthy fiber, vitamins and minerals contained in the bran and the germ that have been removed.

Even when the final white flour is enriched, it still falls short of what it was in its natural state.

The end result is we don’t get the best “fuel” for our bodies from wheat that has been refined. (Great charts and info above thanks to Mindovermunch.com & Grainchain.com )

ABOUT LIFE- I learned this week that the memory of hard times can become a museum ready to house a lifetime’s collection of failures..OR.. an internal pacemaker that jolts you onward every time you falter. The PRIME movie, The Four Season’s Lodge, featured Holocaust survivors who were absolutely determined not to let their horrific  war experiences destroy their chance to live a good life. What an inspiration!

ABOUT PEOPLE- I learned this week that helping people, giving back and being part of a greater community effort is a critical ingredient in a purpose filled life. We can’t all be doctors or pastors but there are still plenty of opportunities, even during Covid, to make a difference in the lives of others.

ABOUT GOD- I learned this week how to confidently tap into God’s limitless power as I pray for my family and our country. God doesn’t want us limping and whining through our difficulties, we are MORE than conquerors!

A special congratulations to our son who after many, many years of schooling and training has reached a much anticipated milestone in his career!

I LOVE YOU HONEY! 🥰

Thank-you.. It’s a bit anti-climactic because of Covid..but lots of people have dealt with that, right? Weddings, graduations, new babies..just can’t whoop it up like we’d like to..oh well..later maybe. — Have a good week-end LA! 💜

YUP! There is always something to celebrate..and if I’ve noticed anything lately, it’s that people are STILL figuring out creative ways to mark special occasions.

You are too kind..🙂 I am trying hard to share more positivity these days..I could feel myself falling into a bit of a rut there for a while- and it showed. Step #1 was stop obsessing about that over which I have no control and focus on good things, good people, good food, all of the good stuff. It’s out there..it just doesn’t “sell” like bad news and it’s often much harder to find. So anyway..your comment means a lot to me, thanks.
