Wouldn’t it be nice?

I had the strangest thought last night as I pondered the recent surge in Covid cases: Wouldn’t it be nice if one of the side-effects was that your nose turned red and glowed? This thing is a numbers game – every time you go out, you roll the dice and hope you aren’t unknowingly “bumping” into someone who is sick.

The more people who are sick, the greater your odds of innocently “running” into an invisible, infecting Covid cloud. Now if one of the early side-effects was a glowing, red nose, we’d be able to see the danger and avoid it.. you know, like the plague. (har, har) We’d also have a better understanding of how many people are actually walking around with this “thing..”

“Wow honey, that was a great jog with the dog..the leaves were so pretty, the temperatures were balmy but gee whiz, were there a ton of red noses out there today!”

At least we could take some defensive action..

The elevator door opens and one of the people in there has a nose that is softly lit up.. “Oh, I forgot my briefcase..” you could politely say as you back out and wait for the next ride to the lobby. Or let’s say you’re checking out at Target and you can see that the girl working the register on aisle 4 has a faint rosy glow through her mask… well off you go to aisle 10.

Or maybe you decide not to join the hooting and hollering crowds because, oh.. I dunno..

RED NOSES??

So yeah, too bad there are no red covid noses.. but then again..let’s be honest..even if there were, many of us wouldn’t heed the warning anyway. Think about it.. we know cigarettes cause cancer, junk food makes you fat and yet on we go, spinning the wheel of potential misfortune, drinking too much beer, riding without a helmet, going on dates with creepers, frequenting Home Depot without a mask..stuff like that.

Red noses, red flags..this is how we roll..right on past the warnings.

Oh well..just another day on the Island of Misfit Toys. 😉

You hit it exactly…Ben if something is as plain as the nose on your face, we see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe

If only things happened like that where it was more obvious. Those that did have a red nose lit up, may end up trying to cover it up like Rudolph dad did before Santa came in. Speaking of Rudolph, did you know he almost had a different name and a blue nose? https://www.courageouschristianfather.com/rudolph-red-nosed-reindeer/
