No, you don’t need to sell your puppy to afford a new pair of glasses.

Yes, I’m one of those freaks who still reads the fine print, and when I read the privacy statement on the Warby Parker app, I got nervous.

Have you ever read some of these privacy statements?

It’s like ordering a box of Girl Scout cookies from the sweet kid at your front door, and the minute you sign her form, a GSS (Girl Scout Squad) enters your home and starts rifling through your fridge, your closet, your underpants drawer and your address book.

I don’t like that.

So instead of following my daughter’s advice to buy my glasses from WP using their app, I went to Lenscrafters at our local mall instead. They were having a 40% off sale, so I was pretty excited about that. The sales girl was friendly and all, but the 40% off sale, when you included everything that wasn’t included, took the price of my $860 glasses down to $640.

WHAAAAT?? (And no, I didn’t choose Valentino or Burberry..just 100% plastic Coach frames that probably cost them 75 cents to make.)

Lucky for me, I live near another mall that just so happened to have a Warby Parker store..so off I went.

What a GREAT experience!

Now if you are looking for a brand name frame, of course you won’t find it there- everything is WP.. BUT..you will find almost every style available. The sales guy was super helpful, the pricing was easy to understand, the cost was almost 50% less than Lenscrafters ($345 with blue light filtering, $295 without) and I received my progressives in the mail 5 days after I ordered them!

And btw, when I discussed my privacy concerns about their app with the guy at the store, he told me I didn’t need to agree to the “invasion” in order to use their app. He showed me how it worked, allowing you to virtually try on their product, and it was seriously pretty cool.

So yeah..

Warby Parker is my recommendation if you are in need of new glasses.. great company!
