Smack dab in the middle of an unfolding miracle..

A pastor tells the hilarious story of how when his son was a baby he would sit in his highchair wailing for food. He’d scream and kick and pound his little fists as if he was sure that THIS TIME his parents would surely forget his pureed carrots and he’d die a slow death from starvation.

The pastor shared that it was at these moments that he’d imagine how the wails of the Israelites must have sounded to God as he led them out of bondage in Egypt. He had performed miracle upon miracle, literally dumped manna, the ultimate wonder bread👍, on their heads and yet time after time the people whined and wailed as if God was surely going to abandon them and let them all die.

Miracle upon miracle and still they complained..

Are we guilty of that? I mean I don’t know about you, but I still can’t get over the fact that effective vaccines to fight Covid were created in record time. And how about those vials made by Corning to withstand the ultra cold temperatures..?

Yup- This is the Corning company.

How about those super-freezers in the hospitals? How about the pilots and truckers delivering their precious vaccine cargo? How about the legions of people (many volunteering) administering the vaccines? How about the fact that agencies around the globe are trying to organize plans so that every human being on this planet gets a vaccine..not once but TWICE!

Miracle upon miracle..

Mark 6:41 describes a moment in the New Testament where Jesus stares down at 5 loaves of bread, two fish and thousands of hungry people needing to be fed.

You know what’s incredible?

Facing this absolutely daunting situation where the need far outstripped the supply, the first thing Jesus did was give thanks.

We all know the rest of the story right? Not one person left hungry and there were left-overs to boot.. It was an absolute miracle!

So how about we take a breath and actually thank God we are in this moment. As stressful as it is, if we didn’t have a vaccine, well… I guess we’d be complaining about that instead.

Did you even know what COVID was this time last year? And yet here we are barely 12 months later with a vaccine going into peoples’ arms around the world.

I know there have been problems, I’ve been frustrated trying to get an appointment for my mom too..but I keep reminding myself to keep this impatience right where it belongs, smack dab in the middle of an unfolding miracle.

So let’s take just a moment to say “WOW”

Hi there! It’s been a while (I’m blaming everything on Covid). Today’s blog was a great reminder. It is hard to believe how much has happened in one year!
I love the new look. If you have a spike in your reads today, it’s probably me.
